£99 offer released for steam train rides in London

The Rail Company is offering a First Class fare of £99 for travel on the popular Sunset Steam Express throughout August.

The tours, which restarted earlier this month, take passengers from London Victoria through the picturesque Hills countryside while the sun sets.

The trips run weekly on Tuesdays and last for three and a half hours.

The train is hauled by iconic steam locomotive 70000 Britannia, with passengers travelling in luxury in a vintage carriage. Britannia is a British Railways Standard Class 7, built in 1951, and is owned by the .

After leaving London, the tour passes through , crosses the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, descends the Vale of Holmesdale, and travels through the market towns of Dorking and Reigate on its way back to Victoria.

First Class passengers will begin their trip with sparkling wine and snacks on board the train, travelling in Pullman Style Dining carriages. Tea and coffee will follow, with further snacks and drinks available in the Buffet Car.

A table for two available at a supplement of £30, and limited Pullman Style Dining seats are still available, priced at £155 per person.

Passengers are also welcome to bring their own picnics to enjoy during the tour.

The Sunset Steam Express will depart London’s Victoria Station at 18.15 for a three-and-a-half-hour circular trip, returning at 21.45, on Tuesdays 8, 15, 22 and 29 August.
