Work taking place to electrify the Midland Mainline will see road users in West Langton in Leicestershire, affected from Monday the 19th to Friday the 23rd of June, with advice given to road users to plan ahead during the period of work.

Network Rail is currently electrifying the line between Kettering and Wigston as part of the Midland Main Line Upgrade Project, which aims to provide a cleaner and more environmentally friendly railway into the future.

The period of work will see two bridges demolished on West Langton Road, this is because they do not have the necessary clearance in order for electrification to take place.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place at Langton Hall Farm on West Langton Road, alongside a 40mph temporary speed restriction, both of which will remain in place from the 19th to the 23rd of June.

Further work will take place in the same location during the latter end of August and will see temporary traffic lights returned to the same location, this work is expected to complete during the early part of September.

Network Rail and Leicestershire County Council have worked closely together in order to make the least possible disruption to both residents and rail users.
