The East Lancashire Railway (ELR) in Bury has launched its summer season, promising “unique experiences” with “more than just food on the menu”.
Red Rose Diners and Premium Nights
Red Rose Diners begin with a glass of fizz and continue with a three-hour train journey through the Irwell Valley. Passengers will be served with a four-course dinner with complimentary sparkling wine, followed by tea or coffee and after dinner chocolates.
Red Rose Diners will run Friday-Sunday throughout June, July, August and September.
Premium Nights are black-tie, Pullman-style dining experiences, in luxurious surroundings. Passengers will be welcomed by live music from a classical harpist and violinist, and once on board, will be served a four-course meal complete with table magician.
The night will end with a prosecco reception on the platform. Premium Nights run on selected Saturdays.
Murder Mystery
ELR is hosting several murder mystery nights during the summer, each with a different theme.
Passengers are invited to solve the riddle while travelling aboard a stream train through the Irwell Valley and eating a three-course meal.
Themes include Strictly Come Dying, Sherlock Holmes and Great Gatsby. Murder Mystery dining trains run on selected Fridays and Saturdays throughout June, July, August and September.
Wine Tasting and Gin Tasting
Passengers will travel on ELR’s beautifully restored Pullman-style carriages, hauled by a historic steam locomotive, for almost three hours through the Irwell Valley, while learning about and tasting fine wine or gin.
Led by experts from Kwoff wine shop in Bury, passengers will enjoy the drinks’ flavours and aromas, alongside a four-course meal followed by tea or coffee and after dinner mints.
Wine Tasting and Gin Tasting nights run on selected Fridays and Saturdays throughout June, July, August and September.
Midweek Lunch and Sunday Lunch
Lunches made with fresh, locally-sourced produce feature in midweek and Sunday events. Midweek lunches will include a freshly-prepared two-course meal followed by coffee and an after-dinner chocolate.
Sunday lunch guests will be greeted with a glass of fizz, and then enjoy a three-course meal also followed by coffee and chocolate.
Midweek lunches run on selected Wednesdays and Sunday Lunch runs on selected Sundays throughout June, July, August and September.
