ScotRail is urging football fans to plan their journey ahead of travelling to Scotland men’s match against Georgia at Hampden Park on Tuesday evening (20 June).

The clash between the teams that currently stand in first and second place in Group A of the Euro 2024 qualifiers kicks off at 7.45pm.

As it has done with previous, similar fixtures, the operator is providing additional services and carriages from Glasgow Central to Mount Florida, the nearest station to the ground. Nevertheless, services will be much busier that usual, so ScotRail is advising fans heading to the game to allow more time to get there in time for kick-off..

Extra ScotRail staff will be on duty at Glasgow Central and Mount Florida. Queuing systems will operate at Glasgow Central before the game and at Mount Florida after it ends.

ScotRail is asking supporters to head straight to Mount Florida after the match and join the queues on Bolton Drive. Passengers will not be able to access the station from Battlefield Road.

Passengers can reduce their need to queue by buying their return tickets in advance, via the mTicket system on the ScotRail app, which they can do from home or on their way to the station.

ScotRail has also reminded passengers that they are not allowed to carry or drink alcohol on ScotRail trains or in its stations.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Head of Customer Operations, said: “We’re looking forward to helping football fans travel by train to cheer on their team when the Scotland men’s national team host Georgia at Hampden on Tuesday night.

“To help the event run smoothly, we’re adding extra carriages to key trains as well as more trains to and from the national stadium.

“Our advice to supporters is to leave extra time for travel as trains are likely to be busier than normal. Buying tickets in advance through our mTickets system will reduce your queuing time.

“Regular commuters who travel home from Glasgow on the line via Mount Florida should be aware that services will be much busier than normal with fans heading to the match.”
