To boost its biodiversity at its Long Maston Rail Innovation Centre, Porterbrook has planted 46 new trees around the site.

Porterbrook took over the Long Marston site in 2021 and since then, they have wanted to boost the biodiversity at the site.

The tree planting is in addition to seeding wild meadows on unused areas of the centre. The new trees are of UK native species and replace trees that had to be removed due to ash dieback.

Yew, Beech, Alder and Pear supports the biodiversity of the site, as well as reducing the chance of ash dieback reoccurring.

A Porterbrook spokesperson said “Since Porterbrook took over the Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre in 2021, we’ve been committed to maintaining and enhancing the biodiversity on the site.”

“Having a variety of newly planted trees, including Yew, Beech, Alder and Pear, supports the biodiversity of the site and reduces the chance of ash dieback reoccurring.”
