Southeastern is marking King Charles III’s Coronation on Saturday the 6th of May and will see its stations decorated with bunting and will even feature an impressive life-size knitted King.
Battle Yarn Bombers have created the full-scale yarn King in collaboration with the 1066 Community Rail Partnership. The incredible decoration has taken a number of weeks to create.
The rail operator will see some of its stations delivering Coronation cheer as part of the Coronation festivities, which has seen local communities work with colleagues from Southeastern put on a number of activities, events and decorations for the three-day celebration, including:
- The impressive knitted King
- Giveaways
- Activity packs
- Photo opportunities with life-size cut-outs of the King
The knitted King’s final destination will be Tunbridge Wells station where he will remain through to the end of Bank Holiday Monday.
Sonia Maulson, General Manager – North, Southeastern Railway, said: “We’re honoured to be supporting the Coronation of King Charles III and on Saturday we will be helping people across Kent, Sussex and southeast London reach central London so that they can be part of this historic occasion. Our team wanted to do their bit for our customers–to help them get in the spirit and enjoy the celebrations, so look out for some surprises and delights at our stations.”
