The Snowdon Mountain Railway/Rheilffordd yr Wyddfa at Llanberis in North Wales has taken delivery of four new lifting jacks.
The jacks were supplied by workshop equipment experts Totalkare, and will play a crucial role in helping the railway to carry out essential maintenance. They will enable diesel and steam locomotive frames to be lifted to facilitate their vital maintenance work.
The specialised jacks have been specifically designed to meet Snowdon Mountain Railway‘s unique requirements. Each jack has a Safe Working Load of 5.5 tonnes, and will significantly enhance the railway’s capabilities by ensuring the utmost safety and efficiency in its maintenance operations.
The railway is currently open and will be running services daily, weather permitting, until the 29th of October 2023. It offers stunning scenery and awe-inspiring views and makes a great family day out in North Wales.
During the early season, until June 23rd, trains will only run as far as Clogwyn Station, which is three-quarters of the way up the mountain. From the 24th of June trains will operate all the way to the station at Snowdon Summit.
