ScotRail is providing more seats on more services to support fans heading to Hampden Park for the Men’s Final which will see Inverness Caledonian Thistle play Celtic on Saturday the 3rd of June with kick-off taking place at 17.30.

Extra services will be added to trains operating between Central and and will also feature more carriages than usual in order to extend capacity.

Mount Florida is the closest station to Hampden Park and is the most convenient way for supporters to get to and from the Final.

ScotRail will also operate an ‘Inverness Express’ service which is being especially run in order to support Inverness Caledonian Thistle fans getting to and from the match.

The service was announced following a change in the kick-off time, which would have meant that fans travelling by train from Inverness would have no scheduled trains following the game.

The special service leaves Inverness at 11.03 on Saturday the 3rd of June and is a none-stop service which will arrive at at 14.21.

The return journey will leave Glasgow Queen Street at 20.48 and will arrive in Inverness at 00.02. Should the game result in penalties, the train will depart Glasgow Queen Street at 21.30 and arrive in Inverness at 00.27.

Tickets for the Inverness Express are only available to purchase via the Inverness Station Travel Shop. No other tickets will be accepted for the special service in each direction.

Tickets are priced at £70.60 and include return travel from Glasgow Central and Mount Florida. Child fares are also available, however, discounted Rail Cards, Rovers, Travel Passes and Club 50 tickets are not valid for the special service.

Queuing systems will be in operation at Glasgow Central ahead of the game and also at Mount Florida following and fans are advised to plan extra time needed for this into their travel plans.

Queuing times can be reduced for those not travelling via the Inverness Express by purchasing return tickets to Mount Florida ahead using the mTicket system, which is available on the ScotRail app.

ScotRail is also warning customers alongside those heading to the game on the 3rd of June, that rail services will be much busier than usual and therefore leave more time than normal to complete journeys.

Plenty of ScotRail staff will be on hand to help passengers travelling on Saturday. The rail operator is also reminding customers that the carrying and consumption of alcohol are prohibited on its services and at its stations, which also includes onboard the Inverness Express.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail’s Head of Customer Operations, said: “ScotRail is looking forward to helping football fans travel to the men’s Scottish Cup Final to cheer on their side.”

“We’ll be adding more seats and more trains to keep people moving, but customers should plan their journeys in advance and allow some additional time for travel.”

“To minimise your need to queue, buy your return tickets before you travel on the ScotRail app or website.
“Our special Inverness Express for travelling Caley Thistle fans is the only rail service available for travel back to Inverness after the final whistle, and tickets for this service are only available from Inverness station Travel Shop.”
