The in in will launch a new ‘NERF Train’ experience this summer, featuring fun and games with non-expanding recreational foam. The events will take place during the school holidays, and combines a train journey on a steam engine with NERF fun and games on Wednesdays in August.

Local NERF event supplier Mega Blaster World™ from Tunbridge Wells is working with the Railway to deliver the events, and a representative from the company will meet each train to escort families to the NERF arena.

The ‘NERF Train’ will take families from Station to Station, where everyone will alight. They will then take the three-minute walk from the station to Groombridge Village Hall, where a purpose-built NERF arena will be ready for children to take part in a NERF Laser battle.  A second NERF arena in the recreation field will host NERF Darts.

A limited number of tickets are available for each event. Twenty-five children can take part in each session at Groombridge Village Hall and an additional fifty children can enjoy NERF games on the recreation field.

NERF blasters and goggles are included and will be returned after each session. Children are welcome to bring their own favourite NERF blaster from home to use in the NERF dart battles.

Each session lasts one hour and includes a briefing on how to wear safety googles for NERF dart games (goggles are not required for NERF laser) before a ten-minute warm-up to get used to some of the blasters available from the 300-blaster NERF armoury on display. Team red will then battle team blue in an epic NERF battle of ‘capture the flag’!

After the event, a member of the Mega Blaster World team will take participants back to Groombridge station for the journey back to Tunbridge Wells West.

Tickets must be bought in advance and cost £10.00 per adult and £15 per child, including travel on the steam train and a children’s NERF experience. The event is suitable for children of age four years upwards. NERF Laser is from age four up to a maximum age of eight; NERF Darts age is for children aged six or over with no upper age limit.

Coffee, tea and cake will be available to buy in the village hall with a donation from sales made to the Spa Valley Railway.

  1. What is going on with Lagy Ingrid? Boiler test passed months ago but project stalled since then, so several months of new boiler ticket wasted. What on earth is happening?
