Halifax station in West Yorkshire, which is the sixth-busiest station in Yorkshire, has been enhanced by a huge colourful display that depicts the town’s culture, history and wildlife that has been created by more than 80 of the town’s students.

The new installation runs along the station approach and has 47 panels that stretch to more than 50 metres long, and features nearby landscapes and wildlife.

The project was carried out by the Halifax Station Partnership with support from Northern Trains, which is the second largest train operator in the UK, operating 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.

Tony Baxter, regional director at Northern, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to the incredibly talented students whose artworks now have pride-of-place at the station.

“It can now be enjoyed by everyone in the community when they visit the station and is something for everyone to embrace, enjoy and be proud of.

“These young people also volunteer at Halifax station and it is their hard work and dedication that makes the station so welcoming.”
