To help with the cost of living, Southeastern has launched a number of digital Railcards that provide a one-third saving off the price of train tickets.
Although Railcards have always been an excellent way of saving money on train tickets, Southeastern’s new Digital Railcards customers offer customers the same range of savings, but with the convenience of not having to carry a physical railcard.
They provide a convenient alternative to traditional paper Railcards, as it they are always there on their phones where they are stored in the Southeastern app, meaning that both travel tickets and Railcards will be stored in the same place.
Digital Railcards can be purchased from Southeastern’s website and app and it will automatically be available in the customer’s account. After purchasing the Railcard it can be saved in the user’s favourites in the Southeastern app so the discount can be automatically applied every time a ticket is bought.
During the journey, if a member of staff asks to see the Railcard, the customer just needs to show the Digital Railcard in the Southeastern app.
Customers will receive an email or app message within 30 days of their Digital Railcard’s expiry date. It can then be renewed by logging in to their account and selecting the type of Railcard they wish to renew. Once payment has been confirmed, the renewed Railcard can be used immediately.
Southeastern Digital Railcards include 16-17 Saver, 16-25, 26-30, Two Together, Family & Friends, Senior, and Network Railcards. If anyone isn’t sure which is the right Railcard for them, Southeastern has a handy Railcard calculator to help customers find out.
Astrid Agnew, Head of Digital, said: “We’re always looking for ways to save our customers time and money. Digital Railcards are a really easy way for our customers to buy and store Railcards, offering the same savings and benefits as paper Railcards.
“To help make our customer’s lives even easier they can also ‘favourite’ their digital Railcard so the discount can be automatically applied to any journey searches made on the Southeastern app and website.”
“Southeastern doesn’t charge online booking fees which also helps our customers looking for their money to go further”.
