This year’s annual Vintage Car Show at will take place on Sunday, 2nd April when over 130 cars made before 1956 will be on display.

The event at the Amberley Museum near Arundel in West Sussex is often known by historic motoring enthusiasts as the ‘Cobweb Run’., as it is one of the first gatherings of the year by the historic motoring fraternity, and often features newly-restored vehicles.

With a span of over 55 years from the oldest to the youngest, the vehicles on display will range from a De Dion Bouton Vis-a Vis, which dates from 1899 and is one of the earliest designs of the motor car, to the youngest that will include a 1954 Rolls Royce Silver Dawn and 1954 Ford Popular.

This will be a rare opportunity to get up close to view and hear luxury, sporting, and everyday cars of a long-gone era of motoring, when every journey was an experience, and driving was often an endurance test rather than a comfortable pastime.

Attending the event will be old favourites including Gordon Cobbold from Worthing with his 1927 Austin 12 Windsor which still has its original paintwork and seating and has attended every year since the first show in 1980. Frank Kay from Horsham will show off his original Alvis Speed Twenty of 1935.

Among other cars to bring back nostalgia will be classic sports saloons from the immediate post-war years when designs followed those from the thirties, including two rarities from 1947 – a Lea Francis Coupe and a very-rare Singer open roadster. There will also be many examples of long-forgotten manufacturers from the period on display.

The show is open from 10am until 4.30pmand for this event tickets must be booked in advance at www.amberleymuseum.co.uk

  1. In light of the nostalgically astounding Amberley being gratefully rewarded a gloriously granted amount in the restoration of much of it’s capacity,

I bet that transportation-themed show/outing shall be a potentially commercial success for Amberley during the 2023 season out there.
