Northern is looking for a new Centre Manager in Merseyside and Yorkshire

Northern is seeking a TrainCare Centre Manager for its depot in , Merseyside. The position includes responsibility for the entire 12.5-acre site including depot leadership for a team of 150 employees.

An Improvement and modernisation programme is currently underway at the Allerton site which will see it meet today’s high standards for train maintenance.

The right applicant will need a relevant background in production leadership, ideally from the rail sector or a heavy industry environment.

Applicants will need to hold a certificate from The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health.

The closing date for applications is Monday the 13th of March 2023.

Iain Burnett, director of fleet at Northern, said: “We’re looking for a strong, inspiring and collaborative leader with the confidence and credibility to help steer the vision we have for Allerton.

“The successful candidate will also focus on ensuring strict safety standards are met and will lead the local charge in transforming engineering.”

Northern also manages a further 4 TrainCare centres including:

  • Neville Hill in West Yorkshire
  • in Manchester
  • Hull Botanic Gardens in East Yorkshire
  • in Tyne & Wear

The Allerton depot is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 25% of 360 trains which make up Northern’s Fleet and is home to its electric fleet of Class 319, and trains.
