A series of guides have been produced by Northern Trains to help its customers who work in towns and cities across its network make the most of their leisure time after they finish work.
The guides can all be obtained from Northern’s website and are titled ‘Go Do Your Thing After Work’. Guides are currently available for Bradford, Harrogate, Leeds, Manchester, Middlesbrough, Newcastle, Sheffield and York.
The guides were launched last Friday, 17th March, to coincide with English Tourism Week 2023, which runs until Sunday, 26th March. English Tourism Week is held annually and is designed to celebrate tourism in England, and aims to highlight the importance of tourism, and the value and large contribution that the tourism sector makes to the UK economy.
The ‘Go Do Your Thing After Work’ guides highlight the best things to do in the towns and cities once the working day is over. These could be enjoying a colourful cocktail or a delicious drink while unwinding with friends or colleagues, or possibly a trip to a theatre.
For those of a competitive nature, the guides showcase some of the more unusual activities to be shared with colleagues, such as darts, pool, shuffleboard, crazy golf and escape rooms.
The north of England also offers a wide range of venues to suit all tastes and genres of live music with well-known names featuring alongside new homegrown talent. Enjoying a live performance in the company of friends or colleagues can be the perfect end to a busy day at work.
The guides also highlight the benefit of commuting to work by train, and they can all be downloaded from https://www.northernrailway.co.uk/offers/go-do-your-thing/after-work
For anyone who doesn’t work complete weeks, a Flexi Season ticket is an alternative that offers eight days of travel in a 28 days period at any time between any two stations and provide both flexibility and savings. Unlike traditional season tickets, with Flexi Season tickets you only pay for the days you travel, and are ideal for people who work from home a couple of days a week. They also represent a saving against individual Standard Anytime Day Returns.
