Škoda Group has expanded its operations into Austria by establishing a new subsidiary, Škoda Group Austria GmbH, based in Vienna.
Škoda Group Austria GmbH took over 40 employees and part of the assets of Molinari Rail GmbH Austria last Wednesday, 1st 2023. The establishment of the new subsidiary has gained an experienced team that will work on both group and own projects, and has enabled Škoda Group to significantly strengthen its position in the field of technical engineering and design.
Molinari Rail GmbH Austria went into insolvency in November 2022, but Škoda Group has gained two new locations and taken over the employees and part of the assets of Molinari Rail. The head office of Škoda Group’s new Austrian subsidiary is in Vienna and it has a branch office at Schwaz in the Tyrol. Although participating in the activities of the entire Škoda group, Škoda Group Austria GmbH will have a great deal of autonomy in terms of its business and expertise.
Mike Niebling, President of Region West at Škoda Group, under whom the management of the Austrian subsidiary falls, said: “Last year, our group started significant changes to its organisational structure to expand into new markets and broaden its portfolio.
“This new acquisition is a clear demonstration of our work to strengthen the position of Škoda Group in Western European markets and fits in with our strategy. I am delighted that we have gained a team of 40 highly experienced designers with this acquisition”
Andreas Maroschik, Senior Vice President Rolling Stock Development at Škoda Group, said:”We are looking forward to working with our new colleagues, who will certainly bring new thoughts and ideas thanks to their know-how. They will be challenged by the fact that they will be working on projects within the group as well as on projects they have already developed for their other customers. Our aim is also to work on contracts that were in negotiation stage at the time of acquisition.”
