Dovetail Games are releasing an array of add-on releases for the Train Sim World franchise and is soon to include ScotRail Express: Edinburgh – Glasgow
Fans of Dovetail Games Train Sim World are no doubt delighted with their ongoing release of Add-ons including Birmingham Cross-City in November, Bahnstrecke Bremen – Oldenburg during December and a further treat is on the cards with Train Sim World 3: ScotRail Express: Edinburgh – Glasgow.
The Edinburgh – Glasgow release will come courtesy of Scottish-based developer Rivet Games as part of Train Sim World’s Partner Programme. Rivet Games also worked on the well-loved West Cornwall Local and Island Line Train Sim World Compatible route Add-ons. The Edinburgh – Glasgow route is located close to Rivet Games Stirling base and is their longest-created route to date.
The Add-on feature sees both cities brought to life in epic detail and includes the iconic skyline featuring the Balmoral Hotel which peers over Edinburgh Waverley Station. Further along the line stations familiar to those who travel the line appear including Linlithgow, Polmont and Falkirk High alongside stunning viaducts before entering Glasgow which has already featured in Train Sim World.
The Edinburgh – Glasgow route inter-city line is graced by ScotRail’s Class 385 in its saltire and national colour of Scotland livery. The trains were initially introduced back in 2018 as part of a major upgrade for Scotland’s railway. The impressive units include greater capacity, increased energy efficiency (18%) which supports a reduction in carbon emissions of as much as 10,000 tonnes per year.
The add-on marks the first time that Scottish traction has been included for Train Sim World fans and those using the previous Cathcart Circle route will be delighted to see a further ScotRail unit in the game.
Further detailing for the Add on includes:
- AI-controlled trams along Princes Street in Edinburgh,
- Working Train Monitoring System which allows players to change the frequency of passenger announcements on their train. Passenger announcements have been a popular request by Train Sim World fans and this Add-on finally sees its debut.
- Collectibles also feature in this Add-on as they do in all Train Sim World routes and for the Edinburgh – Glasgow route these are cute haggis plushies and suitcases featuring bagpipes alongside standard route maps and posters which players can discover.
- ScotRail’s classic train planters also return but this time as static scenery objects.
Train Sim World 3: ScotRail Express: Edinburgh – Glasgow Add-on, developed by Rivet Games and published by Dovetail Games will be available on Windows PC, PlayStation and Xbox from the 26th of January. The Add-on does need the previous purchase of Train Sim World 3 which can be purchased digitally via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store at £29.99/€35.99/$39.99.
