For the fourth year running, ScotRail has been recognised as a Top Employer in the United Kingdom for 2023 following an assessment by the global employer’s organisation, the Top Employers Institute.

ScotRail is among more than 2,100 organisations in 120 countries and regions, across five continents, that have been certified through the Top Employers Institute programme enables organisations to assess and improve their workplace environment.

To qualify as a Top Employer, organisations must satisfy the institute that they provide the very best working environment for its employees through their ‘people-first’ HR practices. ScotRail has also been recognised as an employer of choice.

To be certified by the Top Employers Institute programme, organisations are assessed on their participation and the results of their HR Best Practices Survey, which covers six HR domains. These consist of 20 topics, such as People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Well-being, and Diversity & Inclusion, and more.

After completing the survey, the answers are validated and scored by Top Employers Institute. If the organisation is successful, they will be recognised as a Top Employer, standing out in its market as an employer of choice. It will also receive feedback on its scoring.
