John Khatri has plenty of experience for his appointment with Northern, as a former executive at easyJet and also after holding a number of senior positions at TUI Group. John will now take on the responsibility for pushing forward Northern’s multi-million-pound programme of change.

The rail operators programme aims to improve its approaches in both working and processes and will utilise state-of-the-art technologies bringing major enhancements to its facilities.

Growing up in Blackpool, John studied at King Edward VII School in Lytham which is known today as AKS Lytham before moving on to study chemistry at The University of Manchester.

Jack Commandeur, engineering director at Northern, said: “John is a great addition to our engineering team. His experience in business change and project management is first rate and I look forward to him bringing his clear passion and enthusiasm for programme delivery to Northern.”

John Khatri, head of engineering transformation delivery at Northern, said: “I’m delighted to have joined Northern at what is a very exciting stage of their transformation journey.

“Their ambition and commitment to engineering excellence is well known and I look forward to working with colleagues across Northern to improve the service we provide to our customers.”

As the second largest rail operating in the country, Northern operates approximately 2,500 services each day to over 500 stations throughout the North of England.

December 2022 saw Northerns latest timetable come into play and customers are able to check the changes via the rail operators ‘Check My Timetable‘ which will detail any changes specific to their local station.
