Later this year at Loughborough Station, East Midlands Railway (EMR) will begin to install four electric vehicle charging points.
E.ON will be installing the charging points and will allow customers to effortlessly charge their car between journeys or whilst waiting to pick someone up.
Each of the charging units will be available to electric vehicle owners on a pay as you go, no subscription basis. Users can pay via the evpay website or app.
Lisa Angus, Transitions and Projects Director at East Midlands Railway, said: “More than ever before, people want the option to make more sustainable choices about how they travel.
“This investment in charging points will enable our customers to make a positive contribution to reduce emissions and cut their carbon footprint.”
Sean Keily, Head of EV at E.ON, said: “Increasing ownership of EVs means more drivers looking for places to charge their Cars. Businesses and organisations like East Midlands Railway are supporting the nation’s drive to net zero while providing their customers with convenient access to charging points.
“While many drivers benefit from the ease of home charging, they also need options for when they are out and about, and we’re looking forward to providing visitors to Loughborough station with the facility to boost their cars’ charge while on site.”
