The railway offers a nostalgic look back into history and a steam journey through the stunning countryside from Tunbridge Wells West to Eridge station is not to be missed and is an ideal activity for rainy days.
Sites to visit along the line include the well-loved spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells which offers some wonderful walks over the beautiful common where you can see the fascinating Wellington rocks or a walk up the picturesque High Street or the historic Georgian Colonnade known as the Pantiles. The town has plenty to see and do with a good number of places to eat or grab some cake and a coffee!
The railways High Rocks station also features the High Rocks In as well as the High Rocks themselves (under 18s must be accompanied on the rocks). Please check the website for opening times for both the Rocks and the Inn before making a journey to visit.
The historic village of Groombridge also features two fantastic pubs – The Junction Inn and the Crown Inn. Bike hire is also available at the station which is great for exploring Forest Way. Groombridge Place which was the location of Bennet House in the film Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly is also a great attraction to visit when open.
Eridge station also marks a great starting point for some wonderful walks as well as The Huntsman Pub for some tasty food. Wildwood Vineway is also nearby and provides wine tasting as part of a steam journey at certain times of the year which must be booked in advance.
