On Monday 9th January, cable was stolen in Toddington, Luton, causing considerable disruption to the rail network.
British Transport Police officers attended the location after a security alert on the trackside at around 9:08pm on the Monday.
Just under £500,000 worth of power cable were stolen, with the two men found near the location. They arrested a 22 year old man and a 26 year old man in connection to the theft.
They have since been released on police bail while the enquiries continue.
Inspector Eddie Carlin from BTP said: “Our investigation into this theft is ongoing and following the 4000 minutes of delays caused we are keen to see those responsible brought to justice.
