Starting on Tuesday next week, because of industrial action by members of the RMT and TSSA Unions, train services operated by East Midlands Railway (EMR) will be severely disrupted with a significantly reduced level of service.
From Tuesday, 13th December up to and including, Saturday, 7th January, people should travel if only absolutely necessary and anyone traveling should make sure they check the time of their train, especially their return train times.
Unfortunately, revised timetables are only available for services from Tuesday, 13th to Friday, 16th December. Services on these days will be as follows:
- East Midlands Railway services will only run between 07:30 and 18:30.
- Services will finish earlier than usual, with the last trains of the days starting between 15:30 and 16:30.
- No services will run east of Nottingham, which will affect anyone wishing to travel Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
- EMR Intercity will operate one train per hour between Nottingham and London and between Sheffield and London.
- EMR Connect will operate one train per hour between Corby and London.
- EMR Regional will operate one train per hour between Derby and Matlock, Derby and Nottingham, Sheffield and Nottingham, and a stopping service between Leicester and Nottingham.
- All other services on East Midlands Railway routes will be closed.
- Rail-replacement bus services will not be provided.
As well as strike action on East Midlands Railway services, other routes across the country will also be affected and customers should check their full journey before travelling on East Midlands’ website, information in stations, and social media for the latest advice and information.
Will Rogers, Managing Director for East Midlands Railway, said: “We are advising customers to plan ahead and only travel by rail if absolutely necessary on days affected by industrial action. Customers are also strongly advised to check when the time of their last train is before setting off and understand how the strike action affects their whole journey.
“At present we only have details of services from 13, December, up to and including, Friday, 16 December. Customers who need to travel on strike affected dates after Friday, 16 December, should check our website next week when the details have been approved.”
