After three months of searching, the Great Central Railway has appointed Malcolm Holmes as its new General Manager.
The recruitment process to appoint a new General Manager started last August, and a substantial number of high-quality applications were received from suitably qualified candidates.
From the applications received, a shortlist of suitable candidates was selected to attend interviews, which were completed in November.
After considering the results of the interviews, the Great Central Railway’s Board of directors has announced that the successful candidate was Malcolm Holmes, and he will join the railway as General Manager next March.
Malcolm has been a volunteer with the Great Central Railway for 28 years, working in several different volunteer roles. With his experience, he will be a familiar face to employees, other volunteers, and visitors alike.
Outside of volunteering with the Great Central Railway, Malcolm’s professional life has largely been in the public transport sector, particularly rail operations. His most recent position was Executive Director of the West Midlands Rail Executive.
