Strike action will affect East Midlands Railways services from the 13th of December up to and including the 7th of January as industrial action is carried out by , UNITE the Union and TSSA Unions. During this time the rail operator will have to alter its services on a day-to-day basis as each of the union’s actions impact in differing ways.

No services will operate on the 24th of December and during the strike period services are anticipated to be extremely busy.

As usual, no services will operate on either Day or Boxing Day.

On strike days, train services will terminate earlier than usual, ending at 18:30 and meaning that the last departure will take place between 15:00 and 16:30.

Routes across the country will be affected by strike action and will see extremely limited services operating on the rail network throughout this period.

The rail operator is advising customers to only travel is completely necessary and those who are making rail journeys should be aware of their last return train of the day.

To find out which services are operating, please visit East Midland Railway’s website: https://www.eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk/rail-strike.

Journey planners with more detail will be updated as soon as possible.

Will Rogers, Managing Director at East Midlands Railway, said: “Due to industrial action, our services will be significantly impacted in the next four weeks.

“Regrettably, we won’t be able to run any services on Christmas Eve and throughout the strike period, different parts of our network will be significantly affected – while services that are operating will likely be extremely busy.

“It is a complicated picture due to the way each union affects us and therefore we are strongly urging customers to visit our website before planning a journey to understand what services are running.

“Customers should only travel if it’s absolutely necessary and they should leave extra time for and short notice changes.”
