This year’s Christmas at STEAM will take place on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of December at the well-loved STEAM museum which is owned by Swindon Borough Council.
The wonderful event will see attendees able to buy festive goodies whilst shopping for special presents with a huge 50 artisan market stalls will be dotted about STEAM’s award-winning exhibits and its impressive locomotives.
For 2022, STEAM will see a number of new traders as well as favourites from 2021 and will see hand-made items for sale including textile gifts, greeting cards, jewellery, cosmetics, home furnishings, artworks, Christmas sweet treats and festive decorations.
The admission price for Christmas at STEAM is £3.50 for adults and just £1 for children aged 3 to 15 years of age, under threes get free entry with tickets covering entry to both the event and the museum.
Further to the festive fun, Santa will also pay a special visit during the weekend and will once again be hosting story time sessions. The sessions will see children enjoy a festive story alongside receiving a wrapped gift in a special and atmospheric fireplace setting. Storytime sessions cost £8 per child and are in addition to the event admission.
Councillor Matty Courtliff, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Heritage, Leisure, and Town Centre Experience, said:“Christmas at STEAM has been a highlight of the museum’s events calendar for many years and I am thrilled that this year visitors will be able to experience superb live entertainment on stage in Great Western Hall for the first time since 2019.
“The weekend will be a joyful celebration of the sights, sounds and smells of a traditional Christmas. Visitors will be invited to enjoy live music, acting and dance performances throughout the weekend from The Kentwood Show Choir, Highworth Silver Band, The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts and Gilmore n’ Jaz, to name but a few.”
