Canary Wharf now features real-time flight departure boards from Heathrow‘s airport terminals as part of this latest update to the Elizabeth line which allows customers to make the journey in only 45 minutes.
The Elizabeth line’s direct connection to the airport provides the fastest possible route to or from Canary Wharf and has already proved successful with commuters as two million passengers have already used the Wharf since its opening back in May. The line also serves Reading and Shenfield.
With access to more than 300 shops, cafes, bars and restaurants at Canary Wharf, international visitors will be able to enjoy everything that the Wharf has to offer. Canary Wharf not only offers more to experience than any other station on the line it also features:
- The UK’s largest collection of free outdoor art
- London‘s longest-running ice rink
- A huge 20 acres of green spaces
- 5km of waterside boardwalk
- An award-winning roof garden which is located above the station at Crossrail Place.
The Elizabeth line sees over two million trips made every week, all carriages feature air conditioning alongside increased luggage capacity with a mix of metro and mainline seating and free WiFi set to be available shortly.
Shobi Khan, CEO, Canary Wharf Group said: “The new Elizabeth line is a game-changer for our residents, office workers and visitors as people can now travel direct to and from Heathrow in just 45 minutes. Business travellers and residents who would have previously opted for multiple connecting tube lines or taxis can now enjoy state-of-the-art travel on the Elizabeth line, which is comfortable and greener. We hope businesses currently taking residency in Canary Wharf will relish the vast number of international business opportunities the extension is sure to bring, and we hope to inspire other businesses and Londoners alike to take up residency here.”
Heathrow Chief Commercial Officer Ross Baker said: “The full opening of the Elizabeth line will mean the UK’s travel hub, Heathrow, and its business hub, Canary Wharf, are directly connected like never before. It enables all passengers travelling through Heathrow to get to and from Canary Wharf direct at unprecedented speed which is a big win for global business and sustainable travel. At Heathrow we work extremely hard to consistently enhance passenger experiences and displaying flights from the airport at Canary Wharf is a way of making sure that starts at the beginning of the journey.”

Why not run most trains from Shenfield to Reading and Heathrow Terminal 4 & Terminal 5 which would complete the whole Elizabeth Line. And perhaps Alstom to manufacture few more Class 345 trains.
And then they can sit at Heathrow for eight hours…
