No rail connections will be available between Yorkshire and London on Saturday the 5th of November as strike action will mean trains destined for London are only able to travel as far as Doncaster.

The strike action taking place on Saturday the 5th, Monday the 7th and Wednesday the 9th of November will see train services extremely limited throughout Yorkshire and the North of England. Rail services which are able to run will only operate between 7.30am and 6.30pm and some lines will be closed completely.

Northern is warning passengers not to travel and TransPennine Express is only able to provide a limited service between York and on the strike days. Passengers heading to major events are being advised to find alternative transport.

which is Yorkshire’s busiest station will only see a few services operating in and out of the station between the hours of 7am and 7pm. The station’s Southern Entrance will be completely closed during the strike days.

Saturday the 5th, Monday the 7th and Wednesday the 9th of November will see no trains operating between:

  • Leeds and Bradford Interchange / Halifax / Hull
  • and /
  • Newcastle and Carlisle / Middlesbrough / Hartlepool
  • Scarborough and Hull / York

Disruption will also impact passengers on the days between the three days of strike action as workers come back to their duties at differing times, due to this passengers travelling between the 5th and the 10th of November should check their travel plans ahead using National Rail or via their rail operator’s website:

Fully qualified backup staff will come forward in order to keep vital freight and passenger services operating where possible.

Matt Rice, North and East Route Director for Network Rail said: “I’m really sorry for the impact that this latest round of industrial action will have on passenger’s plans. We’re only able to offer a very limited service across Yorkshire, and trains that do run are likely to be busier than usual.

“Our best advice is to plan ahead, check your journey before setting off, and to only travel by train if it’s absolutely necessary on strike days. Thank you for bearing with us as we continue conversations with the trade unions to come to an agreement.”
