BR Standard 4 No. 76017, which is set to appear at this weekend’s Giants of Steam Gala at the Bluebell Railway, is to head to Sussex by rail.

The locomotive is not mainline certified so this rather rare movement on the mainline will see 76017 moved using a West Coast Railways diesel locomotive.

The movement will depart Alton on the Mid Hants Railway on Thursday (13th October) a 14:20 and will pass through Bentley (Hampshire) (14:29), (15:05), Woking (15:11), Brentford (16:04), South Acton 16:12), (16:31), Clapham Junction (16:46), (17:17), (17:49) and at 18:10, where it will head onto the Bluebell Railway.

As always, please respect the dangers of the railway. Please do not trespass on the railway to see this iconic locomotive – stay to public access spots.
