Hull Trains are getting in the spirit as it sponsors this year’s performance of ‘A Christmas Carol’ at the theatre

A perfect production for Christmas, Charles Dicken’s classic festive tale ‘A Christmas Carol’ has been the most popular show over the last 10 years at the Truck Theatre which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

has once again continued its partnership with the theatre after its successful Peter Pan production in 2019 and the Railway Children in 2021. The partnership marks the rail operator’s ongoing bid to support the local community and also to bring the joy of theatre to more people this Christmas.

Hull-born Deaf actor Adam Bassett will be playing the role of Bob Crachit in the production and will communicate using British Sign Language as the production aims to see increased engagement with the Deaf community.

The production will be set in Hull in order to connect the real struggles of hard-working families with the happiness that the festive season brings with a focus on community and kindness defeating avarice and selfishness.

Martijn Gilbert, Managing Director of Hull Trains, said: “Hull Trains are delighted to be back on board with Hull Truck to bring some theatre magic to the local community this festive season.

“The show this year is a classic, with a stellar cast, and we can’t wait to see it. The addition of British Sign Language in the performances is a fantastic way to make the show more accessible for others.  I am sure this will be a hit with all audiences, and it will be a great way to get friends and loved ones together for the most magical time of the year.”
