Greater Anglia has recently made a £700K investment in the complete refurbishment of the footbridge at Kelvedon railway station in Essex.
The improvements will ensure better safety for passengers when using the footbridge and when going up or down the steps. They include installation of new, brightly painted handrails with lighting and a non-slip floor surface.
At the same time, the concrete structures were repaired, new steel reinforcements were installed, and the height of the bridge parapet was raised as an additional safety measure.
The station has recently benefitted from the introduction of cheaper short-term car parking.
Greater Anglia‘s Asset Management Director, Simone Bailey, said: “The work at Kelvedon station means that the footbridge is now looking much smarter, has improved customer safety and is helping to enhance the station environment for our customers.
“I would like to thank customers for their patience while this work was carried out.
“Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to Greater Anglia, demonstrating our commitment to providing excellent facilities and service to our customers.”

Kelvedon isn’t much is there. Went there and yes there has been some improvements being made to the station. The concrete footbridge is an absolute eyesore. Just like other railway stations that have concrete footbridges especially at Diss.
