East Midlands Railway release travel advice for passengers ahead of Unite strike action

Services on the East Midlands Railway network are to be reduced next week as members of the Unite union go on strike.

Passengers are being advised to travel only if absolutely necessary on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th October.

No services will run east of Nottingham, affecting those wanting to travel between and .

On some routes, trains will run between 07:30 and 18:30.

No replacement bus service will operate as they cannot meet demand.

Here is the latest travel advice from East Midland Railway:
EMR Intercity 

  • One Train Per Hour between Nottingham and London
  • One Train Per Hour between Sheffield and London

EMR Connect 

  • Two trains per hour between and London (normal timetable)

EMR Regional 

  • One Train Per Hour between Derby and
  • One Train Per Hour between and Nottingham (near hourly service between 06:00 and 18:00)
  • One Train Per hour between Sheffield and Nottingham
  • One Train Per hour between Leicester and Nottingham
  • A slightly reduced service on our Robin Hood Line, between Nottingham and Worksop

All other lines of route will be closed all day on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 October.

Will Rogers, Managing Director for East Midlands Railway, said: “As a result of strike action being taken by Unite the union, we will be operating a significantly reduced service next Monday and Tuesday.

“The impact of industrial action has specifically affected the operation of our train depots and reduces our ability to run our normal timetable.

“We are advising customers to plan ahead and only travel by rail if absolutely necessary on strike days. Customers are also strongly advised to check when the time of their last train is before setting off and understand how the strike action affects their whole journey.
