The Diesel Electric Preservation Group’s 2022 running season came to close earlier this month, when Class 33 No. D6575 worked the last scheduled diesel-hauled train of the 2022 season at the West Somerset Railway.
Reliability for the DEPG locos has been great, with almost all scheduled booked diagrams being hauled by diesels.
The star performer was Class 33 No. D6575 with 100% dispatch reliability, covering 1,935 over 27 days. Class 35 No. D7018 also had 100% reliability, covering 1,070 miles from 14 days of no issues.
D6575 started well to Mid August but then the summer heat caused a few issues, causing the locomotive to be withdrawn on the 18th August.
Hymek D7017 also had issues on the first day of the diesel gala when a cylinder head joint ring failed.
198 out of 210 booked diagrams were hauled by a DEPG loco, 94% – which isnt bad for 60 year old locos.
