COP27 will see Alstom reveal its vital role in global decarbonisation

COP27 will provide with a fantastic chance to demonstrate the options available for decarbonisation within the transport sector and how its work has progressed. The event will also provide a fantastic exchange on the future of green transport solutions.

With more than 20 years of experience with low-carbon technology, Alstom has been participating in the events since #COP21 which was held in Paris and will also be attending the 27th United National Climate Change Conference which will take place in Sharm El Sheikh in from the 6th to the 18th of November 2022.

Alstom will take part in transport-based events during the second week of the conference alongside other innovative change-makers and will provide an excellent opportunity for meaningful discussions regarding sustainable mobility and the importance of women’s roles in both the transformation and decarbonisation of transport.

Events featuring Alstom participants are as follows:

Friday the 11th of November:

  • Africa & Green Mobility Challenges With Mama Sougoufara, Managing Director, Middle East, North Africa and Turkey, Alstom Group will take place at 1.30pm at the Canada Pavilion.

Tuesday the 15th of November:

  • Active Travel With Cécile Texier, Vice President of Sustainability & CSR, Alstom Group will take place from 3pm to 4.30pm at the AMON15 Pavilion
  • Circularity & Resilient Supply Chains With Marc Granger, Chief Strategy and Integration Officer, Alstom Group from 4.45pm to 5.15pm at the We Mean Business Coalition Pavilion

Wednesday the 16th of November:

  • Islamic Dev Bank With Andrew DeLeone, President of Africa, Middle East and Central Asia Region, Alstom Group or another Alstom leader from 11am to 12pm at the Islamic Dev Bank Pavilion

Thursday the 17th of November:

  • GHG Reduction Through Mobility With Ramy Salah El Din, Managing Director of Egypt, Alstom Group from 4pm to 4.45pm at the Egypt Pavilion

Date and time to be confirmed:

  • Women Get on Board With Cécile Texier, Vice President of Sustainability & CSR, Alstom Group at the We Mean Business Pavilion.

The conference will see Alstom promote the essential role that public transport and in particular rail mobility solutions will take in all country’s sustainable development endeavours dealing with climate change issues. Further to this, Alstom will work alongside Ernst & Young in order to publish a position paper as part of COP27 in regard to how urban rail transport is vital in order for Africa to address its sustainability needs and will demonstrate environmental, social and economic benefits for its many growing cities.
