While Network Rail completes essential maintenance at Strathcarron level crossing, the A890 will be closed overnight.
The level crossing is adjacent to the station will undergo a safety inspection from Saturday 29th into Sunday October 30th.
The safety inspection covers a full corrosion inspection which to be completed efficiently means that the A890 will be closed from 22:00 on Saturday until 07:00 on Sunday.
Over night there will be vehicle access across the level crossing other than for emergency vehicles.
Network Rail is working with Highland Council to make road users aware and keep the closure time to a minimum.
Network Rail has also advised nearby properties of the overnight work and have thanked them in advance for their patience.
Lee Ross, Infrastructure Maintenance Delivery Manager for Network Rail said: “The planned work at Strathcarron level crossing is unavoidable and the safest and quickest way to do what is needed is to close the road.
“The crossing equipment and surrounding track is regularly monitored as part of Network Rail’s rolling maintenance and inspection programme to ensure that it is safe and operating as designed.
“While we do appreciate the short-term impact of this work is inconvenient, the long-term benefit is that it helps minimise overall disruption for both passengers and road users and helps us to deliver a reliable and resilient railway.”
