The next European Light Rail Congress is to be held in the La Laguna Grand Hotel in Tenerife next March.

This will be the fifth European Light Rail Congress, and is to be held on 22nd and 23rd March in a spectacular setting in the historic centre of San Cristobal de la Laguna. The Congress will bring together senior and key professionals in the light rail industry to debate urban development strategy and innovation that focuses on light rail as a key component in the drive to sustainable mobility.

Light rail is an area of incredible growth within the light and urban rail sector. The congress will bring together the sector’s most innovative suppliers and service providers, from throughout Europe and elsewhere.

Delegates can look forward to presentations, interactive debates, and exhibitions, as well as a tour of the Metrotenerife depot. Metrotenerife runs two lines in the metropolitan area of Tenerife between the cities of Santa Cruz and La Laguna.

There will also be over eight hours of dedicated networking sessions and a networking reception at the Casa del Vino, which tells the secrets of the island’s wine industry and the link between the wine industry and the island’s volcanic activity.

The event is being organised by the marketing services company, Mainspring, with the support of multiple global light rail award winners, Metrotenerife.

Metrotenerife Chairman and Vice-President of the Government of Tenerife, Enrique Arriaga commented: “The change and improvement of mobility in the city is a priority. As the most important annual meeting in Europe on light rail and urban tramways, in 2023 we will present our model of sustainable mobility and the innovation, technology, strategic solutions and design keys to the present and future of public transport and mobility.”

Mainspring’s Managing Director, added: “We are delighted to continue this event into 2023, having spent two great years in Zaragoza. We are looking forward to working with our colleagues in Tenerife to make the event even more successful next year.”
