Steam locomotive to visit Newton Abbot this Saturday

Either 70000 Britannia or 34046 Braunton will be back in action this Saturday (3rd September) as it hauls the English Riviera Express.

A diesel will haul the first part of the tour. Departing Crewe at 05:45, the train will pass through (06:11), (06:21), (06:32), Smethwick Galton Bridge (06:45), Birmingham New Street (06:52), Barnt Green (07:32), Worcestershire Parkway (08:04), Cheltenham Spa (08:26), Parkway (09:09), Bristol Temple Meads (09:42), Taunton (10:27), and Norton Fitzwarren at 10:35.

Here the steam locomotive will be added to the train. Departing Norton Fitzwarren at 10:59, the train will continue on its journey, passing through Tiverton Parkway (11:15), St Davids (11:35), Dawlish Warren (11:52), Newton Abbot (12:14) Paignton (12:32) and Kingswear at 13:06.

The return trip will depart Kingswear at 16:35 and will see the train retrace its steps back to Crewe, passing through Paignton (17:21), Dawlish (17:51), Exeter St Davids (18:17), Taunton (19:21 – diesel hauled from here), Bristol Temple Meads (20:12), Cheltenham Spa (21:24), Worcestershire Parkway (21:46), Barnt Green (22:09), Birmingham New Street (22:45), Wolverhampton (23:13), Stafford (23:31) and Crewe at 23:58
