There are just two weeks left to submit nominations for this year’s Railway Benefit Fund (RBF) ‘Heart of Gold‘ Awards as they will close on Friday, 7th October.
Last year, the Railway Benefit Fund charity received over 100 nominations and 7,000 votes. The awards recognise those in the rail industry who go further and make a real difference in their workplace or community. Anyone who works in the rail industry is eligible to submit nominations, giving them the opportunity to thank colleagues who they appreciate and value and who inspires them. This year’s winners will be announced in November.
This year, there are four award categories to choose from:
Lifetime Achievement Award – Sponsored by Railpen
The Lifetime Achievement Award is for someone who, throughout their career in the railway industry, has demonstrated that they have a Heart of Gold. This person may be a mentor to others, a supportive figure, or even just a friendly face. Nominees for the Lifetime Achievement Award will usually have worked on the railway for at least 15 years.
Team Award – Sponsored by Amaro
The Team Award is for an outstanding group of people who all work in the rail industry. The team should work together, support each other, and by working as a group achieve outstanding things. Nominations can be submitted for:
- An individual’s own work team;
- A team an individual manages;
- A team of people who have fundraised together or as worked as a team of volunteers.
Rising Star Award – Sponsored by Furrer + Frey
The Rising Star Award is for a newcomer to the railway industry, but who in a short space of time has made a big impact. Although new to the railway industry, they will already have displayed incredible acts of kindness and is an inspiration to others to do the same. Nominees for the Rising Star Award should have been working in the rail industry for no more than five years.
Rail Hero Award
The Rail Hero Award is for someone who has made a significant impact on the well-being of a colleague or their community without being recognised for what they have done. It doesn’t matter whether their actions have been big or small, but by their actions they will have made a huge difference to the lives of others.
