Northern is set to support The Locomotion RU by providing free parking alongside travel to the starting line.
Competitions and supporters will be able to use Northern‘s Eaglescliffe station car park for free during the event which is taking place on the 25th of September.
Those taking part in the five-mile charity race can also get free travel from Eaglescliffe to Thornaby station. Runners need to register at The Locomotion pub which is close to Eaglescliffe station where vehicles can be left ahead of catching the train to Thornaby. On arriving at Thornaby station, it is just a short walk over Thornaby bridge to the starting line. The route of the race will lead runners back to the finish line which is at The Locomotion.
Orchard Eagles Running Club and The Locomotion Pub in Eaglescliffe have joined forces to organise The Locomotion Charity Run, raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance. The run will feature 2 different routes one of 10 miles and one of 5 miles following the original route of the Stockton and Darlington Railway in celebration of the history of North East Engineering.
Kerry Peters, regional director at Northern said: “Good luck to everyone taking part in this fantastic event.
“At Northern, we are proud to be a part of the communities we serve and aim to make a positive impact for the North.”
As the UK’s second largest rail operator, Northern runs over 2,000 services each day to more than 500 stations throughout the North of England.
