Under an existing contract, The Department of Transport (DoT) in Victoria has utilised an option to purchase an additional 12 VLocity Diesel Motor Unit (DMU) regional trains (36 cars) for the State’s regional rail network.

A $250 million investment from the Victorian Government will allow for the trains though the 2022/23 Victorian State Budget.

The DMU’s are part of a third options for trains to be ordered under the current supply agreement which was awarded by the State in 2018.

Trains will have three cars each, providing 36 new carriages to the line which will make services more reliant.

The trains will be operating on the Shepparton and Warrnambool lines. Over the last year alone the VLocity fleet has travelled 39 million kilometres.
