Because of planned industrial action by rail unions ASLEF and the RMT later this month, passengers intending to travel by West Midlands Railway trains during the next two weeks are being advised to check their journeys before they travel.

On Saturday 13 August there will no service on any West Midlands Railway route due to action by members of the drivers’ union ASLEF.

As a result, passengers will not be able to travel with West Midlands Railway or its sister company London Northwestern Railway.

On Sunday, 14th August, there may be some disruption to early morning trains because of them being in the wrong place overnight.

On Thursday, 18th and Saturday, 20th August, members of the RMT union are taking industrial action, meaning that there will only be limited service, which will only operate between 7.30 am and 6.30 pm, and only on the following routes:

No trains will run on any other West Midlands Railway route, including:

  • all routes via Birmingham Snow Hill;
  • Birmingham to Shrewsbury;
  • Birmingham to Worcester and Hereford;
  • Nuneaton to .

On Friday, 19th and Sunday, 21st August, because of the previous days’ strikes, some trains may be in the wrong place. An amended timetable will therefore apply on Friday, 19th, and for early morning services on Sunday, 21st August.

Further information on the planned industrial action can be obtained at www.wmr.uk/industrialaction

Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director at WMR, said: “It is disappointing that our customers will continue to be impacted this month due to ongoing industrial action and I am urging passengers to check their journeys in advance.

“On Saturday 13 August we will not be able to run any services at all and we are advising passengers not to travel. Passengers holding tickets purchased in advance can travel on an alternative date or receive a full refund.”
