In this short video, RailView records the legendary A4 hauling her first passenger service, running in Wartime Black 4498/60007 and making for stunning sight as she steams her way through the Severn Valley Railway.
The video begins at Tenbury Wall and we see Sir Nigel Gresley powering away from Bewdley leaving Kidderminster Town and moving on to Bridgnorth in the golden afternoon sunlight on her first public passenger service since being withdrawn for overhaul on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway back in September 2015.Â
We next see the A4 working her second and final train of the day from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth at Haye Bridge and at the bottom of Eardington Bank and looking stunning in the evening sunlight as she powers up the gradient with some wonderful whistles as she hauls the beautiful rake of Gresley Teak coaches.
It is fantastic to see this renowned A4 Pacific return to steam and with the additional benefit of seeing her in the temporary LNER Wartime Black as she is set to be repainted into her BR Express Blue livery in the not too distant future.
