Volunteers to pull Mountaineer steam locomotive across Cob to Porthmadog

With the ‘s ALco, , due to have its restoration started soon, the project has announced a new ‘Moving Mountaineer’ event in August 2022.

On Saturday 27th August 2022, 20 volunteers will pull the steam locomotive from the points at Pen Cob, by Boston Lodge Works, to Porthmadog Harbour Station.

The cost for a ticket to the event is £12.65 and all proceeds will go to the Rebuild The ALco Fund.

This event will be the final public appearance of Mountaineer before it is moved to Glan Y Pwll for its restoration to start.

There is also a competition open, simply buy a ticket and guess how long it will take for the volunteers to pull Mountaineer across the cob. You can find full details on how to enter by clicking here.

If you win, you will be able to receive up to 5 pieces of Mountaineer Merchandise – this includes a cap, sweatshirt, badge and other pieces of Merch.
