The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has announced that Tornado’s driving wheels have been delivered back to Locomotive Maintenance Services in Loughborough.
Work on the driving wheels was undertaken at the South Devon Railway (Engineering) after it was recognised that the locomotive needed new tyres on the driving wheels.
The wheels have not had new tyres since the engine first steamed in 2008 and since then, the locomotive has covered more than 130,000 miles.
Although a little later than anticipated, the arrival of the driving wheels means that work can start on repainting and lining before fitting back on the locomotive
