The Severn Valley Railway has announced that GWR-inspired Mogul No. 9351 will be visiting them for their upcoming Autumn Steam Gala.
9351, which was converted from a 2-6-2 tank engine to a 2-6-0 tender engine in 2004, visits thanks to the West Somerset Railway.
9351 was previously numbered 5193 and last visited the Severn Valley Railway in 2005.
The original locomotive was built in 1934 and was initially allocated to Stourbridge Junction, a short stone’s throw from the SVR HQ at Kidderminster.
What’s more, the Severn Valley Railway’s own Mogul, No. 7325, will also be on display at Kidderminster Station throughout the event.
9351 joins previously announced LMS Black 5 No. 45231 The Sherwood Forester at the event, which will also be 4930 Hagley Hall’s first gala appearance since its overhaul was completed.
7714, 43106, 75069, 2857, 1501 and No. 70 ‘Elizabeth II’ will join the visiting locomotives for the gala.
Two further locomotives, one smaller than our readers might expect, will be announced soon.
Michael Dunn, head of commercial and visitor experience, said: “Our Spring Steam Gala saw a record visitor numbers with more than 5,000 visitors, and we want to make sure our autumn event is going to be unmissable too.
“We’ve got all sorts of things planned including a few more surprises. Something we’re very excited is our breakfast dining trains, and pie and mash trains every day of the event.”
“We’ll be running goods trains and there’ll be a narrow gauge railway at The Engine House, Highley, plus we’re putting together an ambitious timetable which starts at 8am and runs until midnight on Friday and Saturday.”
Tickets are now available at the SVR website: svr.co.uk.
