People of Hull and East Yorkshire get to ‘Name that Train’ for the rail operator’s fifth and final Paragon train.
The competition first began back in 2019 as Hull Trains prepared to welcome its new Paragon fleet of Hitachi trains and saw people from the region given the opportunity to name one of the new trains.
The naming contest has seen members of the public asked to come up with names for five individual trains which represent the history, culture and community of Hull and East Yorkshire in a bid to celebrate both the city and the new trains.
A phenomenal response was received with hundreds of names submitted but sadly the Covid-19 pandemic saw the contest put on hold.
David Gibson, Managing Director of Hull Trains said: “This is an exciting opportunity for the people of Hull to leave a lasting legacy on our fleet of trains that will be seen between East Yorkshire and the capital. The names included in the public vote are all unique to Hull and our city’s culture. I’m really looking forward to seeing the chosen names on our fleet of Hitachi 802s in the near future!”
