There is likely to be significant disruption to c2c train services on Thursday, 18th and Saturday, 20th August because of industrial action by members of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport workers union (RMT) and the Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA).
On the days of strike action services will operate only between 07.30 and 18.30. Final plans have yet to be confirmed for the strike days, but once they are available they will be published on c2c’s service alterations page.
Two trains per hour will run from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness via Laindon and from Fenchurch Street to Pitsea via Rainham.
There will be no trains via Ockendon or Chafford Hundred
On Thursday, 18th August the first trains will be:
- 07:30 Shoeburyness to Fenchurch Street
- 07:32 Basildon to Fenchurch Street
- 07:36 Grays to Fenchurch Street
- 07:44 Pitsea to Fenchurch Street via Rainham
On Thursday, 18th August the last trains will be:
- 17:00 Fenchurch Street to Pitsea via Rainham
- 17:05 Fenchurch St to Shoeburyness via Laindon
- 17:28 Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness
- 17:37 Fenchurch Street to Grays via Rainham
Because of the knock-on effect of the strike action, there will also be an impact on the days following the strikes, Friday, 19th and Sunday, 21st August. Services will not start until after 6.30 am with a full service planned to be in operation by 08:00.
Because of strike action on London Underground on Friday, 19th August, TfL has confirmed that Travelcards will be accepted on alternative services within the zones on the ticket and that PAYG users will be charged for the service(s) they use.
If a passenger’s service is affected by strike action, cross-industry ticket acceptance and temporary removal of certain ticket restrictions may be made available. If an Off-Peak or Anytime ticket was purchased and a passenger chooses not to travel because their service has been cancelled, delayed or rescheduled, they may be entitled to a fee-free refund or change from the original retailer of their ticket.
Because the strikes will cause significant disruption, c2c is offering the following options:
If a service has been cancelled, delayed or rescheduled, passengers may be entitled to change their ticket or get a refund free of charge from where they bought their original ticket. Information about applying for a refund can be obtained at https://www.c2c-online.co.uk/media-centre/latest-news/refunds-during-industrial-action/
All non-season tickets will have their validity extended for travel the day before or up to two days after any strike action takes place. If a ticket is for a through fare that includes the London Underground it may not be valid on London Underground services on an alternative date.
