Steam is set to return this weekend, with the Railway Touring Company saying that their Royal Duchy tour is set to be ‘diesel assisted’ rather than diesel hauled.
6233 Duchess of Sutherland is set to haul the tour from Bristol Temple Meads on Sunday 31st July 2022.
Departing Bristol Temple Meads at 08:12, the tour will pass through Yatton (08:32), Taunton (09:10), Tiverton Parkway (09:37), Exeter St Davids (10:19), Dawlish Warren (10:42), Totnes (11:09) and Plymouth at 11:49.
Here, a diesel takes over. This will continue through Saltash (12:30), Liskeard (12:46), Bodmin Parkway (12:58) and Par at 13:12.
The diesel will haul the return journey back to Plymouth, departing Par at 16:05, the tour will pass through Bodmin Parkway (16:15), St Germans (16:36) and Plymouth at 17:00.
With 6233 Duchess of Sutherland back on the train, the tour will depart at 17:30 and will pass through Ivybridge (17:49), Newton Abbot (18:18), Dawlish Warren (18:31), Exeter St Davids (19:04), Tiverton Parkway (19:49), Taunton (20:05), Yatton (20:43) and Bristol Temple Meads at 21:06.
