Carnforth-based steam locomotive to haul Lancaster – Carlisle tour through Blackburn this Tuesday

A Carnforth-based steam locomotive will pass through Preston and this Tuesday, 12th July 2022.

The locomotive is on a special railtour tomorrow, hauling The Pendle Dalesman to Carlisle.

The railtour departs Lancaster behind the steam locomotive at 08:09 and will then pass through Preston (08:42), (09:12), Langho (09:27), Clitheroe (09:40), (10:18), Ribblehead (11:23), (12:01), (12:13) and arriving into Carlisle at 12:52.

After around two and half hours in Carlisle, the steam locomotive will depart Carlisle at 15:25 bound for Lancaster. It will pass through Lazonby & Kirkoswald (15:53) and will stop for water at Appleby (16:12).

Continuing down the Settle and Carlisle line, the locomotive will pass over the Ribblehead Viaduct at approx 17:17, continuing to Settle, and through Settle Junction (17:32) where it heads for Hellifield, for a water stop, at 17:37. After the water stop, the locomotive will continue towards Lancaster, heading through Clitheroe (19:20), Blackburn (19:50), Preston (20:18) and Lancaster at 21:33.
