People who shop online can now request that their purchases be delivered to a locker at their local station instead of to a home or business address. Amazon sends buyers an email notification which contains a unique pick-up code along with the address and opening times which gives the purchaser the opportunity to collect goods at their convenience.
The lockers have been installed at key locations across the London Northwestern Railway network and mean passengers can pick up their shopping whilst travelling
London Northwestern Railway now has Amazon lockers installed at fourteen stations across its network with the project aiming to provide passengers with increased convenience when using their local station.
Robert Goode, head of property for LNR, said: “This innovative project will make life easier for our customers and allow them to pick up shopping at their convenience as they travel around the rail network.
“The lockers are already proving popular and I am sure we will see more people using them as passenger numbers continue to climb following the pandemic.”
Amazon lockers are currently installed at the following London Northwestern Railway stations: Apsley, Berkhamsted, Bletchley, Cheddington, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, Leighton Buzzard, Long Buckby, Northampton, Nuneaton, Polesworth, Tamworth, Watford Junction and Wolverton.
London Northwestern Railway’s sister company West Midlands Railway is also set to see a further six lockers installed and will include Stratford-Upon-Avon and Telford Central.
