The heritage railway has reported that it quite simply cannot run trains without its incredible team of volunteers.
A common interest in trains drives many people to take up volunteering on heritage railways and Churnet Valley Railway wants to raise awareness of the other types of volunteering roles available outside of driving trains.
Volunteering offers a fantastic chance to develop a passion and for some lucky folks their passion is their job and Churnet Valley Railway wants to encourage people to come forward and use their skills to benefit both the local community and the railway.
Volunteering is also ideal for those who feel like they have missed their calling on the railway and want to take the opportunity to have a go for themselves.
Churnet Valley Railway is in need of volunteers for all aspects of the railway as a business such as Public Relations to support marketing the railway, IT and Data for building the railway’s in-house data network, Customer services for station-based roles and Compliance to work with the RM3 Team in reviewing the ability to achieve excellence controlling perceived health & safety risks.
All of these roles are vital for running the railway and without the behind-the-scenes work, Churnet Valley Railway is unable to run trains.
If any of the roles above are of interest or you have a skill but are not sure how it would work with the railway, please do get in touch today as Churnet Valley Railway would love to speak to you.
